Light-Dependent Expression of Protochlorophyllide Oxidoreductase Gene in the Liverwort, Marchantia paleacea var. diptera

A cDNA encoding the NADPH:protochlorophyllide oxidoreductase (EC 1.6.99.1 [EC] ) was isolated from suspension-cultured cells of the liverwort, Marchantia paleacea var. diptera. In contrast to the situation in most higher plants, the liverwort gene was expressed in a light-dependent manner.
