Regulation of Nitrate Reductase Activity by Nitrate during Light-Dark Transition in Detached Oat Leaves

In oat (Avena sativa L. cv. Suregrain) leaf segments, light-dark modulation of nitrate reductase (NR) activity could be observed only when segments were kept in –NO3 conditions. We present here evidence that nitrate would regulate NR activity by modulating the phosphorylation status of the enzyme.
