Nitrate reductase (NR) was assayed in vivo in cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz). Activity in the leaves ranged from 0 to 2.51 µmole of NO3 reduced g–1 h–1, with no activity in the younger leaves (leaf 1 on top). NR activity was localized in the sides and toward the tip of the lobes of the leaf.
