The effect of tribenzylphosphate on the activity of the phosphate translocator of intact pea chloroplasts was tested. The translocator activity was followed by O2 evolution, 14CO2 fixation and 32P back-exchange. The reagent inhibited 3-phosphoglycerate dependent-photosynthetic activities probably through an interaction with the PGA translocator.
