Effect of Tribenzylphosphate on the Phosphate Translocator of Isolated Pea Chloroplasts
Centro de Estudios Fotosintéticos y Bioquímicos, Consejo National de Investigations Científicas y Técnicas F. M. Lillo, U. N. de Rosario, Suipacha 531, 2000 Rosario, Argentina
The effect of tribenzylphosphate on the activity of the phosphate translocator of intact pea chloroplasts was tested. The translocator activity was followed by O2 evolution, 14CO2 fixation and 32P back-exchange. The reagent inhibited 3-phosphoglycerate dependent-photosynthetic activities probably through an interaction with the PGA translocator.
