Evidence for Chlorophyll RC I in Cyanobacteria
Fachbereich Biologie/Botanik, Philipps-Universität Lahnberge, 3550 Marburg/Lahn, FRG
We proved the occurrence of chlorophyll RC I (Chl RC I) in the procaryotic cyanobacteria Anacystis nidulans and Anabaena variabilis and demonstrated its identity with Chl RC I of eucaryotic organisms by spectroscopy and mass spectrometry. The molar ratio of Chl RC I to P-700 was again shown to be unity. It was concluded that RC I is part of PS I of all organisms with oxygenic photosynthesis.
