In order to investigate the mechanisms of gibberellic acid action, we have studied the effect of GA3 on the activities of the various components necessary for protein biosynthesis.

The activities of ribosome and elongation factors EF-1 and EF-2 essential for protein biosynthesis were stimulated strikingly by GA3. Therefore, it can be concluded that whatever effects GA3 may have on transcription, the hormone controls the gene expression even at the translational level.
