Flower-inducing effects of benzoic acid and some related compounds in Lemna paucicostata 151
Laboratory of Applied Botany, Faculty of Agriculture, Kyoto University Kyoto 606, Japan
Lemna paucicostata 151, collected in Bangkok, Thailand, does not flower under any photoperiod when cultured in M-sucrose medium, but easily flowers when benzoic acid, salicylic acid or some other related compound is added to the medium. Benzoic acid is more effective than salicylic acid.
