Six peptide hydrolases, which degrade ribulose 1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase (RuBPCase), have been isolated from green wheat leaves in a partially purified form. Each enzyme could also degrade haemoglobin and no other enzymes were detected which did not degrade both substrates. The optimum pH for RuBPCase degradation was 5.2.
