Effects of colchicine on the mitosis of Physarum polycephalum

Kimiko Hagino, Kimiko Murofushi1 and Jiro Ohta

Department of Biology, Faculty of Science, Ochanomizu University Tokyo, Japan

Colchicine treatment delayed mitosis in the plasmodium of Physarum polycephalum. This effect was observed when colchicine-pulse treatments were performed at the late G2 phase. 3H-colchicine-binding activity was mainly localized in the nuclei and increased in the late G2 phase.
