Mechanisms of the acido- and thermophily of Cyanidium caldarium Geitler IV. Loss of these characteristics due to enzyme treatment

Isao Enami and Ikujirô Fukuda

Department of Biology, Faculty of Science, Science University of Tokyo Kagurazaka, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo 162, Japan

Both the acidophily and thermophily of Cyanidium caldarium were destroyed by lipase treatment. Galactolipase was most effective lipolytic enzyme for eliminating these characteristics. The thermophily was also destroyed by protease treatment.
