Flower initiation of Lemna perpusilla under continuous low-intensity light
Laboratory of Applied Botany, Faculty of Agriculture, Kyoto University Kyoto, Japan
Lemna perpusilla 6746, a short-day plant, flowered under low-intensity white light (10 lux)irrespective of the photoperiod. Red light of about 20 ergs/cm2/sec also permitted flowering under continuous illumination. The effect of the low-intensity light employed was not equivalentto that of darkness but similar to that of blue or far-red light in photoperiodic system.
