Auxin-induced synthesis of TB-RNA in pea stems

EIICHI TANIMOTO and YOSHIO MASUDA

Department of Biology, Faculty of Science, Osaka City University Suwiyoshi-ku, Osaka, Japan

The effect of 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid on RNA synthesis in etiolated pea internode segments was studied. Auxin stimulated synthesis of TB-RNA only in short period incubation, suggesting its primary importance in auxin action. The nucleotide composition of newly synthesized TB-RNA seems to be modified under auxin influence.
