A note on ribosomes in cells of Chlorella protothecoides
Institute of Applied Microbiology, University of Tokyo, and Tokugawa Institute for Biological Research Tokyo, Japan
Based on the sedimentation patterns of ribosomes from the chloroplast and cytoplasm fractions of Chlorella cells, it was suggested that the chloroplast ribosome consists of 30 S and 50 S subunits, while the cytoplasm contains ribosomes of the 80 S class comprising 30 S unit and a subunit having an S-value larger than 60 S.
